καλωσορίζω (Welcome) to this activity. If you have clicked on this activity it means you are either an eco- friendly person or you plan to start being one, which is really great. Now, let us introduce you to some of the simplest ways on how you can do this without incurring much costs or taking much of your time and in the most simplest way possible.

The first task is about making compost using pallets but you can use any other storage container you have, the main thing is to ensure that it has a hole at the bottom of it. Composting is the process of turning organic matter back into soil and the best part about compost is that it’s a process that happens naturally. By learning how to make your own compost, you will use your own dirt from food and yard scraps that otherwise would have been thrown in the trash.

The only way for you to earn this badge, is to ensure that you take part and upload the required evidence in all the tasks.

We hope that you will have fun as you connect with mother nature.

Great!!!!! So from the first task you have been able to identify exactly what we need to collect in order to be able to make your compost. Now, let us assemble all our ingredients together and put them in the location where we are going to make it. Take a selfie of yourself and the ingredients once you have assembled them and upload it here..
Task no.3

Steps to Make Compost:
  1. Join the pallets together to form of a box but do not cover the top part.
  2. Pour soil into the box and make sure it covers the whole base.
  3. Add you green waster (these includes vegetable and fruit peelings and remains) and also egg shells if you have any.
  4. Add the dry leaves.
  5. Add another layer of soil.
  6. Pour water onto the layers. Please note not to pour too much water or too little.
  7. Leave the mixture for a month, then go see if the level of your mixture is still at the same place or it has reduced. If it has reduced, this is amazing it means your compost is ready.
While you are doing the above steps, please take a video of yourself/ yourselves and share it with us.

Great work!!!!!! Now please share what you have learnt with others and help us spread the word. Incase you took more videos and pics while you are making the compost, please feel free to tag us on our social media handles:
